Get REAL is a student driven non-profit that works to eliminate LBGTQ discrimination and bullying through peer-to-peer workshops in high schools across Canada.
Get REAL was founded at Western University in the spring of 2011. In 2012, Mount Allison University (Sackville, NB) became the second school to bring the organization to its campus, and the first sign that this was a movement that could take hold an entire generation.
Get REAL currently operates in over 16 campuses across Canada, and following MTA, students of Canada's East Coast have been a driving force behind this growth, with Acadia, STFX, Dalhousie, UPEI, and UNB all coming on board in spring and summer of 2014. These shirts are a celebration of East Coast Love and the level of positivity, excitement, and leadership that has come from these 6 Maritimes schools. They are a joint collaboration between Get REAL and Shift Imprints, with Co-Coordinator of Get REAL's STFX team (Kiera Van Ray-Vesnaver) redesigning our traditional Get REAL logo to give it some East Coast flavor.
The shirts represent our common goal of producing great apparel that acts as a medium to express statements of equality and respect. A $5 donation from each shirt will also go towards Get REAL's school presentations, which empower university students across Canada to speak to high school students about unlearning homophobic language, coming out, and embracing everyone, regardless of difference. We hope you wear this shirt with as much pride as we have taken in making it.
Love,
Shift Imprints & Get REAL.
